MARCH WORLD MISSIONS

The following is part of my March World Missions Boost for Dist. Conventions and it's accompanying power point pictures. (I carry pom-poms with me :)

The following scriptures serve a dual purpose.
One purpose is to cheer us along and encourage us to live more abundantly. The other purpose is to put a burr under our saddles.

How many of us have been Christian for 10 years or more? (raise hands)

How many of us have been members of The Church of God for 10 years or more?
Then guess what?

We know better.

We should know to cheerfully support Missions without any encouragement. It should be as natural as breathing. BUT we all like encouragement and the Bible does command us to encourage each other, so a little CHEERING is good to stir up excitement and remind us of the blessings and goals that are within our sight!

However, along with the promise of cheerful blessings, comes a burr under the saddle! (I actually show a burr)

(HERE'S THE CHEER)Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
(HERE'S A LITTLE BURR)For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.Luke 6:38
(HERE'S THE BURR) But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly;
(HERE'S THE CHEER) and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give;
not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Ever heard, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink??

Well, sometimes you can run around in front of mule :) and wave and shout and he’ll just look at you and blink.

BUT put a burr under his saddle…………
AND HE'LL MOVE!!!!!

So do we want to be CHEERFULLY CHEERED ALONG to support World Missions OR...
Do we want God to have to put a burr under our saddles?! :) :)

For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. 13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: 14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality: 2 Corinthians 8:12-15
