While Mike has been at BTI, I have been watching the building of our new deck.
Last week, the Builder of our new Deck had the wood delivered to my yard by Lowes. When he arrived the next day, he immediately realized that we had the wrong delivery. Well, we didn’t know that…it just looked like a pile of wood to us!
Gal 1:7-9 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
How did the Builder know the difference?
Because he was the one who measured & designed the deck, and ordered the wood.
Eph 3:9-11 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
Eph 1:9-10 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
Wth my correct “future deck” lying in my front yard, all I could see was wood neatly stacked. But the builder, the one with the blueprint design and the measurements on paper, "saw" the completed deck of joists, pillars, decking, railings and steps.
Isa 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Soon, the deck started taking shape. The foundation pillars were set, the joists were lined up, the decking applied, the steps and railings assembled.
Eph 2:21-22 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
My side yard is a very sloped yard, crooked, uneven and full of rocks since my house basically sits on a small ridge & rocky cliff. The Builder did not build “according to the lay of the land”, but used a level and/or plumb line and dug down to the rocky foundation; making sure that everything was straight and level according to the measurements.
Col 2:7, 8 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
He used a rule and big round saw with guides that enabled him to cut straight lines. I understand that builder's motto is, “Measure twice, cut once.” He didn’t want to make mistakes and have to go back and buy more costly wood or waste expensive time.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
rightly dividing: to make a straight cut, that is, (figuratively) to dissect (expound) correctly (the divine message): - rightly divide.
1Co 3:10-11 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Thanks Bro. Ken for my beautiful deck!

Very good analogy! Added bonus...a great deck to enjoy.
Thanks!
We had to have new steps built for our basement door for insurance purposes... but the area there is sloped and rocky. I thought a small deck would dress things up.
You're a natural at writing devotions! What a gift.
Got it? Give it. GOOD! :-)
thank ya ma'am.
