Divorce and Remarriage

Q: What constitutes a lawful Marriage?
A: The only lawful Marriage in the eyes of God is when a man who has never been married before enters into a Marriage Covenant with a woman who has never been married before.
  They become "One Flesh".

Bible Scripture: (Matthew 19:4-6 KJV) And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 

Q: What is the only thing that can dissolve a "One Flesh Marriage Covenant"?
A: Death


Bible Scripture: (1Corinthians 7:39 KJV) The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. 

(Romans 7:2-3 KJV) For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Q: Can a “One Flesh Marriage Covenant” be dissolved by divorce? Can the "wronged party" remarry?
A: No. Divorce and remarriage constitutes the sin of adultery.


Bible Scripture: (Mark 10:11-12 KJV)  And he (Jesus) saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

(Luke 16:17-18 KJV) And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.  

(1Corinthians 7:10-11 KJV) And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

Q: What is the only allowable cause for remarriage by God?
A: The only allowable causes for remarriage are fornication and death.


Bible Scripture: (Matthew 5:32 KJV) But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Q: What is Fornication?
A: Fornication is not unfaithfulness or simple adultery, but is a state of being married to another's wife or husband


Bible Scripture: (1Corinthians 7:2 KJV) Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Divorce and remarriage constitutes the sin of adultery. The only allowable causes for remarriage are fornication and death.
