The bottom line with the OSAS crowd is that they wish to be Justified without Repentance, hence they have re-defined and trivialized sin to just "missing the mark".
Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Why is being DELIVERED important?If you were in a burning building with no escape? Would you say, “I don’t want to leave, but if you will just stand there and keep the fire from burning me, then I’ll be happy to just stay right here and live in the ashes and ruins." Ridiculous!
DELIVER: to set free or liberate, to be released or saved. Not by our own power
What are we Delivered From? THE POWER OF SIN AND DARKNESS
When Adam sinned, man's peaceful relationship with God was broken. Every person is born into this world a sinner. "... As by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12).
Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:22).
Rom 6:22-23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
False Teachers claim that “everyone sins every day, but you can still be saved”. This is the “Once Saved Always Saved (OSAS) Doctrine or Eternal Security”. The OSAS doctrine trivializes sin to portray it as unavoidable. (Overeating, personal failures, frustrations, etc.) These false teachers will define sin as “missing the mark” as in not hitting the center of a bullseye, but okay to fall into the "outer rings".
But missing the mark means to miss it completely. Since Heaven is the mark, we certainly do not want to allow sin to make us miss it completely. What what does Scripture say?

It is impossible to give a simple, complete definition of sin. It does include the setting and fulfilling of one’s desires on “earthly” (Col. 3:2), “things of the world” (1 John 2:15). The Bible literally expresses sin as being:"
Sins of Commission – Those we deliberately commit:"1. All unrighteousness- Romans 1:29
2. Transgression of the Law- 1 John 3:4
3. Whatsoever is not of Faith – Romans 14:23"
Sins of Omission – Those we deliberately omit:
"1. Knowing to do good and doing it not. (James 4:17)"
False Teachers love to quote scripture too:
Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,……
But they neglect to share verses 12-14 that the Grace of God is...
“Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
If it is okay to sin a little every day, then why does the Holy Ghost reprove us?
The Holy Ghost Reproves Sin. REPROVE: convict, rebuke
Read all through all of Joh 16:8-11 “ And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.......”
What is REPENTANCE?
The Father draws to Repentance:Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
REPENTANCE: Turning Completely around.
CONVERTED: to revert; (re-) turn, turn about, again.
Turn from and forsaking sin with Godly Sorrow.
Eze 14:6 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.Eze 18:21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
Paul said he was called to in Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
HOW DO WE REPENT? With Godly Sorrow.
GODLY SORROW IS MOURNFUL REGRET AND GRIEF FOR HAVING BEEN FOUND SINFUL AND CORRUPT AND LOST BEFORE A HOLY GOD.
2Co 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
When the Father draws us to Repentance we have a Godly Sorrow that leads to life. Without repentance, we only suffer the sorrow of the world which leads to death.
So let’s do the Math:
Just feeling "sorry" without Repentance = 0
(sorry you have to leave the pleasures of sin? sorry to suffer the consequences of a sorry life, sorry got caught?)
Confession without Repentance = 0
Pro 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Just believing without Repentance = 0
Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
After Repentance comes Justification:
JUSTIFICATION- To be Aquitted, rendered innocent and to be considered to be in Right Standing with God because of The Shed Blood of Jesus Christ. By His Blood we are forgiven, Justified by faith.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
We are forgiven of the past sins that we are accountable for: Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Rom 5:8,9 But God commendeth his love toward us (GRACE), in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
After Justification, we are Regenerated:
REGENERATION - Rebirth
“The Regeneration of man (not the world) is a singular act of God by the power of The Holy Ghost. Regeneration is the experience of the rebirth of the inner man into a new creature.” (Who is She? Prominent Teachings of The Church of God. p. 12 )
The Holy Ghost Quickens our Spirits. QUICKEN: to make alive, give life
Col 2:113 . 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
The Holy Ghost ushers our souls into the New Birth: From Death to Life…From Darkness to Light… I once was lost, but now I’m found…I once was blind, but now I see…..I once was dead, but now I live.
Tit 3:4-6 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, (GRACE) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, (SELF JUSTIFICATION) but according to his mercy he saved us, (FORGIVENESS - JUSTIFICATION) by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
THE MATH EQUATION IS COMPLETED AS FOLLOWS:
CONVICTION + GODLY SORROW + REPENTANCE + JUSTIFICATION + REGENERATION + BORN AGAIN = SALVATION
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
THE SPIRIT BEARS WITNESS WITH OUR SPIRITRom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Those who teach OSAS seek to be Justified without Repentance, but that is called "Self-Justification or Self-righteousness" (by our own works and not Jesus Christ's).
Things to think about:
We cannot have Godly Sorrow unless the Holy Ghost convicts us
We cannot repent without Godly Sorrow.
We cannot repent without The Father drawing us.
We cannot be Justified (forgiven) without repentance (turning from and forsaking sin)
We cannot be regenerated (brought from death to life) without Justification
We cannot be born again without regeneration. (delivered as a New creature in Christ)
We cannot be Saved and Sin at the same time.
Warnings about LOOKING BACK & sinning again:
Heb 10:26-29 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, (27) But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (28) He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: (29) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Luk 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Luke 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.
But God is merciful and by His Grace he can draw us back to repentance and The Holy Ghost can reprove us of our iniquities. We must heed their call and repent and return back to the blood of Jesus to be washed again (forgiven / justified):Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Isa 55:6-7 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (7) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
DELIVERED means to be SET FREE.
HOLINESS / PURITY is the means of STAYING FREE.
The ONLY way to be DELIVERED and to be HOLY & PURE is by the Second Definite Work of Grace performed by the Blood of Jesus upon the Cross and that is Sanctification.
Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
SANCTIFICATION: “The act of setting apart, (purifying) consecrating, and cleansing. Sanctification is the internal cleansing, a second definite work of grace for the purpose of preparing the disciple of Christ to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. (Who is She? Prominent Teachings of The Church of God. p. 17, 18)JESUS: Eph 5:25,26 …even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

WHY IS PURITY IMPORTANT?
1Th 4:7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.What if I had a bottle of water that has the word “PURE” on the label. But what if I dipped a toothpick in toilet water and then back into the bottle. Purity matters doesn't it? Our Purity matters to God.
PURITY: Unmixed with any other matter. Free from what weakens, or pollutes. Containing nothing that does not properly belong. Free from moral fault or guilt.
WHY DO WE NEED TO BE SANCTIFIED?1Th 3:13 To the end he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
Unblameable in Holiness? Is that Possible?Did you notice the word HE in that Scripture? WE CAN'T deliver ourselves. WE CAN'T have hearts unblamable in holiness before God all by ourselves. Only HE (Jesus) can present us Holy before God.
Remember the Word DELIVERED.2Co 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; .
With the Second Definite work of Grace upon the Cross, Jesus himself delivered us from the power of INBRED SIN, THE ADAMIC NATURE that we inherited from ADAM. When were saved, we were forgiven of our past sins we were responsible for, that we committed...but there is a warfare that is waged in every Christian heart after they are Born Again. This is the warfare between the new Divine Nature and the old man, the Adamic nature of inbred sin.
Heb 13:12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
LIVING IN THE DARK
Why do so many "christians" want to be ignorant of Jesus's blood sacrifice and say that it is okay to sin, to play in the Dark AND still call themselves "saved".Living in dark caves, Cave fish have lost all need for their eyes so the useless organs gradually disappeared. These fish are born with functional eyes, but after about two weeks, the eyes become distorted and partially enclosed in tissue. As the young fish grow, their rudimentary eyes shrink and become completely covered, leaving them eyeless and blind.
Samson taught us this lesson in JUDGES 13:7, 24, & JUDGES 16: 15-21 And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he knew not that the LORD was departed from him. How frightening!
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Be not Decieved...True Christians CANNOT live or play in or have fellowship with the dark. The DELIVERED cannot go back to the darkness they were delivered from and still be delivered.
The Old man, the Adamic nature must be killed, crucified, destroyed. The Divine Nature of God cannot peacefully coexist with the old man Adamic nature! Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Co 6:9-11 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Eph 5:1-8 Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children: And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any Inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
1Jo 1:4-7 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1Th 5:5 -9 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
